Library and Information Update magazine has a piece this month about encouraging information literacy among staff:
"Information literacy programmes within organisations focus on the ability of employees to use the tools and processes provided and, increasingly, on finding ways to embed appropriate information behaviour throughout the organisation. Aspects of IL are found in many corporate training programmes, although they are seldom labelled as such. It is an area where information professionals are playing a significant role and their contribution is increasingly recognised. They are certainly initiating and driving some of the development programmes we have identified. In others the lead is being taken by the corporate learning function, knowledge management teams or managers of groups with specific needs. However, information professionals are commonly involved in developing techniques and materials, delivering training or acting as coaches. Skills transfer from the profession to the organisation is valued. "
