Via NHS eLibraries comes a links to an OAI Rights Press Release that announces a new lightweight specification for sharing small online object collections.

"A Static Repository provides a simple approach for exposing relatively static and small [<5000] collections of metadata records through the OAI-PMH."

The idea is, I think, that this a simpled shared XML-based specification will allow organsiations with a Web server to publish information about their archives and metadata in a way that others can also use.
