Peter Van Dijck has reconstructed the recent online debate around Clay Shirky's rejection of the Semantic Web as a themed narrative with charatcers: Themes and metaphors in the semantic web discussion.

Thanks to the inimitable Marc Canter for the link and also for reminding me that (a) we share a global culture in which all forms of social interaction involve selling something or getting laid, and (b) neither I nor my fellow speaker on Dec 3 are qualified to speak on this subject because we are not in his FOAF file. I stand corrected on both counts ;-)
