Xiao Qiang is posting some interesting pieces over agt Many2Many on Internet use in China.
According to official figures, China will become the largest PC market in five years, which means that what we think of today as a market for social software and similar services will possibly be overtaken by one dominated by a very different culture indeed. Xiao's blog already points to Universities and local CP offices using RSS feeds, and we noticed some time back that an increasing proportion of our referrers were from Chinese sites discussing social software.
Hopefully we can look beyond issues of censorship and control and start to imagine what shape the Chinese internet will really take; Xiao's blog is a good place to start.
