Managing the Connected Organisation

Simon Forrest picks up on Valdia Krebs' paper Managing the Connected Organization, which argues that social capital is in some cases more influential than human capital in creating effective teams within an organisation:

Towards the end of the article, Krebs introduces an interesting mnemonic that plays on a familiar formula, introduced to him by Vancho Cirovski, Vice President of Human Resources at Cardinal Health:

'Vancho, an expert soccer player and coach, first noticed an interesting phenomenon on the playing field. Teams that were more integrated and communicated well amongst themselves on the field, more often than not, beat a collection of individually superior players who were not interacting well on the field.'

This reminds me once again of JJ's analysis of the pivotal role of Cocu in the Dutch football team during Euro 2004.

And the orange coloring of the highlighted link is just by chance, isn't it?

total hyperlinking - it produces the most fluid results! (hence the orange)
