Google talk - hope for interoperability in instant messaging

Finally, something worthy of shaking us from our August blogging slumber: Google talk - not only a potential Skype killer (who just announced a developer tools programme), but also an open source play on the strangely closed world of Instant Messaging protocols, because they have adopted Jabber. Although a Windows only native client, the system works with iChat, Adium and other popular client software.
