A newspaper come alive

The Editors' Weblog, covering the Guardian re-design, is one of the best conversations I think any newspaper has ever had about its product. Really good use of weblog, so qudos to Ben Hammersley and the journalists. The re-design itself is also very good. The Guardian and Guardian Unlimited seem tailor-made for the interweb. It is instructive that venerable "old media" bodies the Scott Trust and the BBC are grasping the possibilities that the web offers better than most. Let's hope it does the numbers too!

I went to the FT to see if their ROI question was going to be as dreary and depressing as I expected. Only to find that I can only find out by giving them some money. As a result, I shall look elsewhere for information.

Which I think demonstrates rather eloquently the consequences of fixating on ROI.
