Spings and Splogs

This post is a good piece of primary research from the University of Maryland's Centre for Ubiquitous Computing. About 3/4 of the pings popping around the blogosphere are actually Spings, sent by Splogs; spam pings sent by spam blogs.

Welcome to the Splogosphere: 75% of new pings are spings.

So rather than the spam blogs being a parasitic part of the blogosphere, blogs are now a symbiotic part of the splogosphere.
