Ruby on Rails developer

We are seeking an experienced Restful Ruby on Rails developer with demonstrable experience in building exciting and innovative applications. Ideally, you will also have a keen interest in social software, although that is not essential.

You will spend much of your time working closely with consultants, designers and other developers in our Social Media team. As such, in addition to very high technical standards, we also expect you to have good social and communication skills and be used to working well in a team environment.

In return we'll offer a competitive salary, an informal working environment (no suits required) in a great location and fabulous office in Shad Thames / Butler's Wharf, where you'll have easy access to great coffee, good restaurants and get to work alongside a bunch of knowledgeable and passionate people joined together by a desire to help change the way people collaborate and communicate.

Must have experience with:

  • Modern Restful Rails development
  • Working with Subversion

Experience in the following is a bonus:

  • Development on OS X or Linux
  • Working in an agile, flexible environment
  • We test using RSpec and Behaviour Driven Development, but any test driven development experience is a bonus
  • Version control with Subversion (and ideally with git or another distributed version control system)
  • Systems administration, deploying Rails on a variety of Linux based environments with tools such as Capistrano
  • Front end code, writing high quality, semantic HTML and unobtrusive Javascript (we like jQuery)
  • Integration with Web Services such as SOAP is sometimes required for our enterprise customers

To apply please send your CV and covering letter to jobs@headshift.com
