Burton Group initiated an in-depth field research study to help clients understand the business, organizational, and technical factors to consider when formulating social networking strategies and initiating internal projects. High level findings are: Getting started is difficult, but not impossible; Addressing business and cultural needs early on is critical; Facilitating social participation requires creative thinking; and Enabling social environments is challenging for IT organisations.
