I quite frequently give presentations and run workshops about blogging. For a taste of the sort I things I cover in those sessions, have a look at the series of 8 posts about using the whole web as your canvas I wrote for NESTA's Big Green Challenge Blog. One of the other things I do is teach on several of the MA Journalism courses at City University, where I'm a Visiting Fellow.
Instead of just talking about blogging, I try practice what I preach, and use my own blogs - cybersoc.com, where I discuss social media and journalism, and stalbansblog, which is a hyper-local blog about the small city where I live - as examples of how to use various tools and techniques to grow an audience.
One of the students at City University, Clarissa Sebag-Montefiore, liked the idea of hyper-local blogging and, after looking around, realised that there was no such offering for Marylebone Village in London, where she lives, so she started one herself.
She's since written an article about her blog for BBC London, citing my St. Albans Blog as an inspiration and containing a few words from myself and Graham Holliday at the Frontline Club (a Headshift client).
Headshift offer a range of services to clients who want to get more out of blogging - ranging from designing and implementing one of the World's busiest blog networks for the BBC to advising Shell's Climate Change Advisor on how to blog effectively. Get in touch if you'd like to find out how we might be able to help you.
