Ross Mayfield’s call for a “social software alliance”

by

Ross Mayfield has posted a Social Software Alliance Wiki: Call For Discussion, 2003-04-16 that proposes some kind of alliance of developers working in this field
Hmmmm …… what do they mean by social software … what do they mean by alliance

yet another (very likely) false start … i’m afraid i should say …
perhaps because it all sounds very similar to the good will expressed by what was called the Open System Environment Study and Investigation, *mandated* by the European Commission well over 10 years ago, and supported by Government Agencies in Europe, North America and Asia Oceania …
yes, i appreciate there are differences … tools are now there … which were then not available … voices can be heard .. which could not then be heard ..
however, the huge missing factor is still … *sharing and participation* … *by common people* … i’m afraid
but i wish i could say that … yes … i believe it’s going to work … because someone at long last shows an understanding for empathy as the missing factor …
for over 30 years we have kept growing up to the *solo* voices of marketing and technocracy … and the consequences should now be recognized beforehand … for fear that any new initiative hides *vested interests* as its real motivation …
so, my non-believer question is … how is the Software Alliance Call for Discussion going to support the …. *sharing and participation* … *by the common people* … ?? … if i may ask
