The barbarians at the gates: blogs, social software & PR

by

I gave a short talk / verbal assault to a session at the UK Chartered Institute of PR (CIPR) northern conference in Manchester last week about the impact of technology on the PR field. In fact, it was not about that at all, but rather it looked at the implications of social software, cluetrain and prosumer culture on this profession, and suggests some first steps people might take to explore the use of social media
I promised to send my presentation to session attendees, but in case I missed anybody it is available for download here (2.5Mb PDF – warning: contains Hugh McLeod cartoon!)
Thanks to our partner Raul Gonzalez at Ether-ray, who sponsored the conference, for the invitation to speak; thanks also to Hugh for permission to use the cartoon (remember? at the bar in Vega? ;-) .
