From Typepad to Movable Type
After some initial consulting for Shiny Media we agreed to move a number of their blogs from Typepad to Moveable Type. Their main concern for the process was to ensure data integrity and minimum downtime, as well as help with quickly familiarising their editorial staff with a new interface.
Step by step
The main tasks involved with moving a set of blogs from one publishing platform to another were:
The main benefit of the new platform is a more stable publishing environment. Movable Type will also allow the Shiny Media catalogue the leeway to grow without forcing radical alterations of the backbone infrastructure again and again.

- Importing all posts for each blog
- Importing all existing images for the blog and changing the static links within the posts to the images
- Importing all existing templates and setting them up for a new custom install of Movable Type
- Testing and releasing the new platform to the client
